The recyclables garbage can was introduced in spring 2011 by Hamburg’s municipal waste management service provider. The background is actually that many recyclable materials were still going to thermal recycling, i.e. waste incineration, until then. Naturally, however, we try to bring as many recyclable materials as possible into a cycle. That’s how this idea came about. Overall, of course, it makes a lot of sense not to stop at packaging.
